Terms, privacy, and cancellation policies for the Japan Location API private preview.

Terms of Service

1. Service

Japan Location API is a service operated by Atlanest. It provides normalized and derived Japanese real-estate and municipal data through REST and MCP interfaces. It is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by a Japanese government body. Source attribution and dataset-specific notices supplied with API responses must be preserved where required.

2. Subscription and payment

The self-service plan is a recurring monthly subscription at ¥12,800 per month, including consumption tax. The operator is not registered as a qualified invoice issuer (適格請求書発行事業者), so qualified invoices (適格請求書／インボイス) are not issued. There is no minimum subscription term. Payment is collected by Stripe when the subscription begins and automatically each month at ¥12,800 until cancellation. The customer must provide accurate billing and contact information.

3. API keys

After paid Stripe Checkout and an active subscription are verified, an API key generated in the customer's browser is presented once in the completion flow. The customer must keep it confidential, must not publish or resell it, and is responsible for requests made with it. A lost or exposed key should be reported promptly so it can be revoked and replaced. For a lost key, support confirms the registered billing email and sends a replacement link to that address. The link expires after 30 minutes and displays a new key once. The old key stops working when the new key is received; if exposure is suspected, the old key is disabled immediately. Replacement does not reset the customer's usage allowance. The raw key is not retained by the service after issuance.

4. Usage limits

The self-service plan includes 10,000 credits per UTC calendar month, up to 60 accepted operations per minute, and up to 300 unique municipalities in a rolling 30-day window. Current-city, city-list and usage operations cost 1 credit; district summaries cost 3; history and comparison operations cost 5; search costs 10 credits (price search runs within one prefecture). Search is limited to 20 results without pagination and comparison is limited to five municipalities. More restrictive per-operation minute limits may apply. Rejected operations do not consume credits. Limits apply jointly to REST and MCP and are aggregated per customer across that customer's API keys. All subscriptions and API keys registered under the same billing email share this single allowance; starting a second subscription with the same billing email does not add capacity, and confirmed duplicate purchases or erroneous charges are refunded in full to the original payment method on request.

5. Data and attribution

Responses contain processed statistics based on identified public sources; they are not the source agencies' official publications. Coverage, definitions, omissions and attribution are returned in response metadata. The customer must assess whether the data is suitable for its use and must not present derived values as official government figures.

6. Availability and changes

The service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, upstream changes, security events or provider outages. Material schema changes will be communicated through the documented versioning process. The plan does not include onboarding, implementation assistance or custom data work. Email inquiries are handled on a best-effort basis without a guaranteed response time or support SLA.

7. Prohibited use

Sharing, publishing, selling or transferring an API key.
Attempting to bypass quotas, authorization or security controls.
Using the service unlawfully or to infringe third-party rights.
Removing required source attribution or representing the service as a government service.

8. Cancellation and suspension

Customers may request cancellation through the Stripe Customer Portal or the published support contact. Timing, access after cancellation and refunds are governed by the Cancellation & Refund Policy. Access may be suspended for failed payment, material breach, abuse or a security risk.

9. Accuracy and liability

Public-source data and derived statistics can contain delays, omissions or errors. The service does not guarantee that a response is current, complete or suitable for a particular decision. The warranty disclaimer above is drafted for this preview and may be revised before checkout opens.

10. Governing terms and contact

Governing law, jurisdiction and the process for notifying customers of material changes will be published before checkout opens. The seller is Atlanest. Atlanest's responsible-individual name, business address and phone number are disclosed by email without delay upon request; send requests to [email protected].

Waitlist email and optional use-case text submitted through Formspree.
Billing email and Stripe customer, subscription, Checkout and event identifiers.
A one-way fingerprint of your API key and its first characters, used for identification, together with your subscription status and entitlement.
Per-customer minute, monthly-credit and rolling 30-day municipality counters. The raw API key is not stored.
Security and network metadata processed by Cloudflare when serving the site and API.

Full payment-card details are entered on Stripe-hosted pages and are not stored in the Japan Location API database.

Purposes

Provide, secure and support the API and MCP service.
Process subscriptions, maintain entitlements and prevent quota bypass.
Reply to waitlist and customer inquiries.
Investigate failures, abuse and security incidents.
Meet accounting, tax and other legal obligations.

Service providers

Cloudflare, our hosting and infrastructure provider, serves the site and API and provides privacy-focused web analytics; Stripe processes Checkout, recurring billing and the Customer Portal; Formspree receives waitlist submissions; Cloudflare Email Routing receives and forwards inbound email to our inbox; Resend sends our outbound email replies. Each provider may process data under its own terms and privacy notice. This list will be kept up to date if an additional provider is added.

Retention and deletion

After the subscription ends, operational account and usage records held by Japan Location API will be deleted within six months, except records that must be kept longer under applicable law. The deletion workflow will be verified before checkout opens. Service providers may retain records under their own policies. Requests for access, correction or deletion may be sent to [email protected].

Security and international processing

Secret keys are never included in pages or files sent to your browser, and only a one-way hash of your API key is stored, not the raw key itself. Cloud infrastructure and service providers may process data outside the customer's country. The applicable safeguards and the seller's contact details will be published before checkout opens.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

The self-service plan renews monthly until canceled. Customers cancel in the Stripe Customer Portal by verifying their billing email address with Stripe; no API key is needed. At launch, the Stripe Customer Portal will not allow customers to change their billing email. The portal sign-in link will be published before checkout opens. A customer who can no longer access their billing email can contact [email protected] for identity verification and assistance.

Cancellation deadline	Cancel in the Stripe Customer Portal or have your cancellation email received at [email protected] before the next renewal charge. The same cutoff applies to both methods. If a timely email cannot be processed before that charge, we will refund the renewal in full.
Effective date	At the end of the current paid billing period.
Access after cancellation	API access continues through the paid billing period and stops when that period ends.
Refunds and prorating	No prorated refund is provided for ordinary cancellation during a paid billing period. Confirmed duplicate purchases and erroneous charges are refunded in full to the original payment method. Other payments are generally non-refundable unless a refund is required by law. Failed payment	API access may be suspended when Stripe reports that the subscription is no longer active.

支払方法・支払時期	クレジットカード決済（Stripe）。お申込み時に初月分を決済し、以降は解約まで毎月同日に自動で決済します。該当する日がない月の決済日は、販売開始前に確定して掲載します。
役務の提供時期	決済完了後、直ちに専用画面でAPIキーを発行します（表示は1回限り）。
申込期間	申込期間の定めはありません。提供枠を制限する場合は購入画面に明示します。
契約期間・自動更新	最低利用期間はありません。期間の定めのない月額契約で、利用者が解約するまで毎月12,800円（税込）で自動更新されます。
請求用メールアドレス	販売開始時、Stripe Customer Portalでは請求用メールアドレスを変更できません。
サポート	個別の導入支援・実装支援・カスタムデータ作業は含みません。メールでの問い合わせには可能な範囲で回答しますが、回答期限は設けていません。
解約・返金	解約・返金ポリシー（英語）に記載。Stripe Customer Portalでの手続きとサポートメールの受信は、いずれも次回更新の課金前が締切です。期限内のメール処理が間に合わず課金された場合は全額返金します。APIへのアクセスは支払済み期間の末日まで継続し、期間終了時に停止します。通常の月途中の解約による日割り返金はありません。確認できた重複購入・誤請求は、元の決済手段へ全額返金します。その他の支払いは、法令上返金が必要な場合を除き、原則として返金しません。同じ請求用メールアドレスの契約は利用枠を共有します。
動作環境	REST APIはHTTPS経由で利用できます。MCP利用時は公開されているMCP仕様に準拠するクライアントが必要です。詳細はAPIリファレンスをご覧ください。
